The Generation
We Are The Generation

I believe we are living in the days spoken of by the prophets and Je-sus.  This is probably the first
generation fully capable of being the last generation.  We are living in the first generation in history where
the things prophesied in Revelation could and are.  Things are shaping up for completion of the time.  And
think about this: For the first time in history, we have the means to totally annihilate ourselves.

Let’s look at some ‘signs of the times’.

·
The Jews returning to their homeland –

Ezekiel 36
24 For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you
into your own land.

Isaiah 11
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover
the remnant of his people, that shall remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from
Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
12 And he will set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather
together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Amos 9
14 And I will bring back the captivity of my people Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit
them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine therof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the
fruit of them.
15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be plucked up out of their land which I
have given them, saith the Lord thy God.

On May 14, 1948, Israel became a nation.  On June 7, 1967, they re-captured the city of Jerusalem.  Jesus
said:

Luke 21
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations:  and Jerusalem
shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gen-tiles be fulfilled.

The ‘times of the Gentiles’ started when Nebuchadnezzar set up an image of himself and forced the people
to worship it.  They probably ended when Jerusalem was recaptured by the jews.

Matthew 24
32 Now from the fig tree learn her parable:  when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth it’s
leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh;
33 even so ye also, when ye see all these things, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished.

The fig tree has always represented Israel.

The birth of the European Community –

Daniel 7
24 And as for the ten horns, out of his kingdom shall ten kings arise: and another shall arise after them;
and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings.

Revelation 17
12 And the ten horns that thou sawest are ten kings, who have received no kingdom as yet; but they
receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

Revelation 17
16 And the ten horns which thou sawest, and the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her
desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her utterly with fire.

What we are talking about here is what prophecy experts call the Revived Roman Empire.  The European
Economic Community that is
developing appears to be the ten horned beast.  (We don’t want to be dogmatic about these things.
Previous generations have thought they were the generation, but were not.)  It is interesting that this
alliance is developing in the same generation that Israel’s statehood was established.

The New World Order is lining up the greatest economic and military alliance in the history of man.  In
Revelation 13 we are told of a global order featuring a world government, a world economy, a world military
force, and even a world religion.  For the first time in history, we live in just such a ‘global community’.
Instant, worldwide communication is possible for the first time in history.  Today, world leaders are clamor-
ing for a united economy, a centralized government, and a single individual to lead mankind into the next
millennium.  (Does that set your alarms off?)

·
The army from the north prophesied in Ezekiel 38 –

The ‘army from the north’ that is to attack Israel in the last days is now capable of mass destruction.  The
nations that comprised the Soviet Union and which now possess its weapons are far more unstable than
the former superpower ever was.  Also, consider Syria and Iraq and their allies.

·
Earthquakes increasing –

Matthew 24
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for these things must needs
come to pass; but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and
earthquakes in di-verse places.
8 But all these things are the beginning of travail.

In 1992 an earthquake struck Egypt where there had never been an earthquake before.  Earthquakes are
increasing in frequency and magnitude.
 1900 – 1969            48 quakes           6 per decade
 1970 – 1989            33 quakes           17 per decade
 Jan – Jun 1990       10 quakes           10 per 6 mos.
 Jul 90 – Oct 92       133 quakes          4.93 per month
                                                              (600 per decade)

·
       Pestilence –

Increasingly we are hearing tragic reports of diseases we thought had been eradicated are reappearing in
more deadly strains.  Polio and TB are back.  And penicillin and other antibiotics are becoming increas-
ingly impotent as the diseases mutate.  War and advanced technology may be to blame.  Air travel has
given disease epidemics a broader scope to spread.  AIDS is the worst plague in history.  By 1993 it had
killed 152,000 in America alone.  In Thailand, 12% of all military are HIV positive.  In Uganda almost 50% of
the population is infected with the HIV virus.

·        War machines –

This nuclear age has made universal devastation possible.  Russia has enough nuclear warheads to start
obliterating major US cities and run out of targets before they run out of missiles.  We have the same
capability.  Increasingly, other nations are developing this technology.  It’s only a matter of time before
somebody pushes the panic button.

50% of research scientists today are involved in arms development.  There is at least one military weapon
and 4,000 pounds of explosives for every person on the planet.

·
    Peace and safety –

1 Thessalonians 5
3 When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden de-struction cometh upon them, as travail upon a
woman with child;  and they shall in no wise escape.

Today, like no other time in history, people around the globe are calling for peace.  The major world
powers bask in a sense of peace and se-curity.  World leaders are calling for a coalition of nations to
ensure peace.  In recent years, due to the unrest in the Middle East and the antics of Saddam Hussein, we
have seen the development of NATO military forces and miriads of peace treaty attempts.

All that we lack is a man capable of running this New World Order.  The former secretary general of NATO
said this:
“What we want is a man of sufficient stature to hold the alle-giance of all the people and to lift us out of
the economic morass into which we are sinking.  Send us such a man and be he god or devil, we will
receive him.”

Calls for world peace, a new world order, a world economy, and even a world religion are beginning to
dominate the news headlines.  And all for the same reasons that the Tower of Babel was built – to unite
man-kind so it can solve its own problems.
Changing Times

Think about the changes in the world since the time of John.  It had to be mind-blowing for him to view our
time.  The prophet Daniel indi-cated that at the end knowledge would increase.

Da 12:4  But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many
shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (AV)

We literally have an explosion of knowledge today.  Combine CNN with the Internet and what we have is an
information overload.  We have gone from the Wright Brothers to the space shuttle in one generation.
Knowledge is doubling every two years.  That means the knowledge we have today will be only 1/16 of
what we will have in ten years.  Even today, by the time you get your computer set up the way you want it,
it's almost obsolete.

There are some frightening aspects to this increase in knowledge.  We now believe that anything is
possible.  Nothing is too wild for us to imagine.  But still most people today are bored.  Television has be-
come our window to the world.  We are told what is happening, what to expect, what to believe, and what to
shun.  Today, television is the most powerful weapon we possess.  With it we can control the minds of the
masses.  Movies have prepared us for even greater technologi-cal advances.  But our technology has set
us up for delusion.  It is be-coming hard for people to distinguish between science fiction and real-ity any
more.  The Star Trek Generation is ready to believe science fic-tion more readily than God.  When the
Rapture comes, many people will be convinced that we were "beamed up".

In fact, one cult group, in early 1998, thought that a space ship traveled on the other side of a comet
passing near the earth and was going to take them away.  It is hard to believe that such an enlightened
genera-tion could be so deceived, and yet we have been set up for it.

There are already ideas promoted by the New Age Movement that the next great jump in evolution is about
to happen and those who are not ready for it, or are not fit for it, will be weeded out by some cataclysmic
event.  They will explain away the rapture.

The next wave is likely to be Virtual Reality.  Virtual Reality refers to computer generated environments
that seem so real that your sense can't tell them for reality.  We already see it to some degree with video
games.  As VR becomes more available and more developed, it is likely to be the 'addictive drug' of the
future.  Think of how hard it will be to go back to the assembly line after you've traveled the world in your
VR Computer.

One other important note:

Some people believe that Christians -- believers -- are the true Israel-ites.  That's where we get into
trouble! The text used by these propo-nents is Romans 2:28,29: For he is not a Jew, which is one
outwardly [in the flesh]...but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly. But this is not ac-curate in the light of
Galatians 3:28, which tells us that there is neither Jew nor Greek in Christianity...neither bond nor free...
neither           male nor female. Literally taken, that would make transvestites out of all of us. Likewise, God
does not change Christians into spiritual Israel-ites.  One can't do that! And here's why: the term Israel or
Israelite is found 2,300 times in the Old Testament, and it is always in reference to Jacob, and Jacob
becomes Israel (see 2 Kings 17:34).

Furthermore, Jacob and Israel are referred to as Jews eighty times in the Old Testament and 170 times in
the New Testament. So how is one going to justify such overwhelming evidence? When Galatians 6:15,16
speaks about the God of Israel, it is in relation to converted Jews -- Hebrew Christians. But that doesn't
make the entire Church Jewish! This one misconception has caused more damage to the cause of
prophecy in our day than any other teaching! The theory started with Augustine in about 190 A.D., and
has led to endless sym-bolizing, with many others following his error. That's where the confu-sion began.
Israel is Israel -- period!
