In His Presence
Ps 16:8-11
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal
pleasures at your right hand. (NIV)

The KJV says – “in your presence is fullness of joy”.

The real secret of the Christian life is the presence of God.

In His presence, you will find peace.  For He is the ruler of all things.  No problem can overcome Him, or
confuse Him, or frustrate Him.
Your purpose in life – the purpose for which He created you – is to fellowship with Him – to dwell in His
presence.  So, when you settle into His presence and focus totally on Him, there is perfect peace,
because you are perfectly in tune with your purpose.
Isa 26:3  You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. (NIV)

When birds sing, they are doing what they were created to do.
When flowers grow and give their fragrant aroma, they are doing what they are supposed to do.
– And God is pleased.
When we linger in His presence, He is pleased.

In His presence, we find power.  He is the Almighty God.  When we are afraid – or threatened – or
overwhelmed – we can run to Him.
READ Psalms 18:2-19

Ps 32:7  You are my hiding-place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of
deliverance. Selah (NIV)

His presence is a place of safety where you can hide from the pressures of the world.  Sometimes, when
we have been in the heat of spiritual battle, and the pressures of the world are bearing down on us, we
need a hiding place.  We need a little “pushim” from the stresses of life.  God’s presence is a good place
to run to.

In His presence, we find joy.
Ps 16:8-11  You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with
eternal pleasures at your right hand. (NIV)

And, How do we get into His presence?
Ps 22:3  But thou [art] holy, [O thou] that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

The Bible tells us that God inhabits – lives in – the praises of His people.  Israel is “His chosen people”
and today we are His chosen people – as those redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

When 2 or 3 are gathered in His name, He is there.
When we praise Him, He is there.
When we trust Him, He is there. He promised to never leave us or forsake us, so we know that He is with
us when we put our trust in Him.  He said He would be with us to the ends of the earth – no matter where
we go or what happens.

I will tell you this – our enemy, the devil, wants to destroy us.  He wants to keep us down.  He will send
problems.  He will send discouragements.  He will do anything to make you give up.

Remember that Jesus came to give us abundant life.  He answers our prayers so that “our joy may be
full”.

The best way to battle the enemy is to –
·        be joyful even when you have problems
·        praise God even when you don’t feel like it
·        enjoy the presence of God even when you don’t feel His presence

Remember, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
King David said,
Ps 42:5  Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will
yet praise him, my Saviour and (NIV)
